SUPERIOR & LAKE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
The City of Wayzata has hired Geislinger and Sons, Inc. to perform the Lake Street/Superior Blvd Realignment and Utility Relocation project. The project includes the relocation of sanitary sewer pipes, the installation of a new water main, the construction of a new sanitary sewer lift station and retaining wall at the corner of Mill St and Superior Blvd, and a traffic signal at the relocated intersection.
WEEKLY UPDATE:
Sanitary sewer work is complete, with the exception of the sewer service connections to the businesses on the south side of Lake Street. These connections will be made with the watermain installation.
Unfortunately, the north side of Lake Street has not yet been paved, as suggested last week. The contractor wants to get curb installed, prior to paving, so that street lighting and sidewalk work can commence while installing watermain on the south side.
Sept 13-Sept 17: Curb is scheduled to be installed on the north side of Lake Street, between Superior Blvd and Broadway Avenue. Final grading of the north side will also occur to prepare for paving.
The contractor is aware that this weekend is our JJ Hill Days celebration in town and will do their best to have things straightened up and accessible for the weekend.
Also, one of our avid construction update readers pointed out that the original contractor’s estimate for project schedule on our website is not correct and it seems that the project is behind schedule. That is correct. The contractor’s initial estimated schedule from early April was very aggressive and due to weather delays and some unforeseen issues the project is probably about a month behind schedule. I will continue to work with the contractor to provide an updated schedule.
A copy of the contractor’s proposed schedule can be found here.
Thank you, in advance, for your patience and cooperation during this project!
